David Yarritu

Many times I’ve thought my deep curiosity and my resourcefulness are qualities that make me particularly well suited for my work as a prop stylist.  I always say my job is a bit of a scavenger hunt, and it’s a wonderful challenge searching for obscure, clever, antique, esoteric, and beautiful things.  I am a bit of a compulsive flea market / estate sale shopper, and I am definitely a collector, with many (maybe too many) collections.

My first jobs in New York were working on window displays; first at Bergdorf Goodman and later at Barneys New York where I worked with Simon Doonan. This was like boot camp training for me. After a while photographer friends were asking if I would help them by finding props and creating sets for their shoots, and well the rest is history.
